From 2016-2017 we worked on a feature-length documentary about the League of Heels, a video game wrestling league that shambles itself together at the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX). With 21 interviews featuring top competitors and internet personalities, we explore the rich backstories, harrowing stunts, and bodily injuries with more depth than people would ever ask for. It was amazingly fun to work on and premiered at the Brattle Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts to an uproarious crowd in March 2017.
In a 16 day span we went from having just a kernel of an idea to delivering over 100 physical copies of a VHS tape complete with unique sketches with participation from a handful of the client’s competitors, unique narration for the ‘best of’ portion and the blooper reel, custom cardboard sleeve, and approval from every person involved in the archive footage used. Nothing got in the way of completing this project with a hard deadline for an eager audience.
From the 60,000+ attendance of events like PAX to small local gatherings, we've been covering happenings around the continent for years. Below is a collection of some of the work we've done from Seattle to Boston and one or two places inbetween.
Sometimes we get to film extra things for ourselves or others. Here are the pieces we have made with that footage.
Scripted shorts created and debuted in front of live audiences over the years. There’s no feedback like immediate feedback where laughter is good and silence is… not so good.
